Expediter
Reports to: Broker
JOB SUMMARY:
The expediter is responsible for but not limited to locating, negotiating with, and developing rapport with carriers that have the ability to work cooperatively with Bear Transportation Services by providing equipment and maintaining high performance levels. The expediter is responsible for the tracking and tracing of loads to ensure that all freight is picked up and delivered in a timely manner. Also the expediter is responsible for assisting the broker in developing and maintaining excellent relationships with Bear customers. The position requirements can change at the discretion of management. Position is structured to provide necessary education/training for advancement.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of two years experience in a sales or customer service position (a bachelor's level degree can be substituted in lieu of work experience)
- Excellent communication skills (phone & in person)
- Excellent problem-solving abilities
- Excellent organization skills
- Work well under pressure and with minimal supervision
- Computer and Internet skills and knowledge
Broker Trainee Program
The Bear Broker Trainee Program is designed to develop and educate dynamic high-energy college graduates that either are new to the transportation industry or do not have a background in transportation. Our unique sales training and mentorship program will enhance your people and management skills to develop and maintain clients. The program will give you the tools to succeed and prepare you for becoming a transportation broker with career growth and future management positions. The educational part of the program includes:
- Two-week intensive period with the company trainer to introduce you to the basics of the transportation industry
- Six to eight weeks working side by side with our top three brokers to develop the necessary tools to sell in transportation
- Six-week fundamentals of sales course based on the principles of Dale Carnegie
- Study and examination of the Certified Transportation Broker exam given by the TIA
The program also includes:
- Excellent earning potential – you should be on track to make $100,000 plus within 24 to 30 months – the more you sell the more you make!
